Being a Thelemapedia editor is an exercise in emotional detachment. Always keep in mind that everything you add is open to editing, changing, mangling, and even deletion. This is the nature of a wiki, and if you take too much ownership of what you write here, you will end up angry or disappointed. However, if you can get into the groove of knowledge evolution as you watch articles take on a life of their own, then you can expect to be quite happy here. Write something in your user page

Let others know who you are, or at least what you are like and what interests you have. Just click on your name in the top right box, and start editing (now that you know how!).

Join the conversation

Right now, there are four ways to interact with other Thelemapedians:

  1. Discussion pages. Every article has a corresponding "talk" page. Just click on the "discussion" link in the grey bar. This is the best place to discuss individual articles and for proposing major changes or asking questions. Also, if you leave a message on a user's discussion page (not the main user page), then that user will get a notice that a message is waiting. Remember to sign your name on talk pages with three or four tildas (~~~~).
  2. The Lounge. We now have our own discussion space on the Scarlet Woman Lodge forum, "The Lounge." You do not need to have an account there to join in, but you are welcome to sign up with one. Although the main topic is Thelemapedia, of course, you are free to start up any conversation you like. This is a place for community. You are welcome to visit the Lounge (http://www.scarletwoman.org/lounge/index.php?showforum=35) any time.
  3. LiveJournal. You can read the Thelemapedia blog (http://www.livejournal.com/community/thelemapedia/) on LiveJournal. You don't have to have an account to read the public messages, but you will have to sign up to post.
  4. Yahoo! e-list. This Yahoo! email list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thelemapedia/) is used for announcements from the Stewards. It is a great way to keep up with the insider information about what is happening with Thelemapedia. All editors are encouraged to join.

Thelemapedia government

There are three main areas of power within Thelemapedia: content, policy, and function. Content is created by the editors, and in this area, no editor has any more authority than any other. Policy has largely been determined by the site's founder, Fr. Ash (John Bowie), who also has the authority to enforce the site's rules. However, over time, he wishes to turn over more authority to the Stewards, whose primary responsibility will be to care for the welfare and integrity of the site. Function refers to things that affect the general user experience, and is also under the hand of Fr. Ash, although he is interested in sharing technical authority with those who are expert in PHP and Internet technologies.

The Zen of Wiki

Being a Thelemapedia editor is an exercise in emotional detachment. Always keep in mind that everything you add is open to editing, changing, mangling, and even deletion. This is the nature of a wiki, and if you take too much ownership of what you write here, you will end up angry or disappointed. However, if you can get into the groove of knowledge evolution as you watch articles take on a life of their own, then you can expect to be quite happy here.
