Godforms
(Revision as of 14:53, 9 Nov 2004)
A Godform is an Image of a God or Goddess used by a Magician in Invocation via the Process known as the Assumption of a Godform.
God versus Godform
The word godform is used rather than god to indicate that this Image itself is not the Object of Worship, but rather a Form or a Seat for Deity to indwell.
Godforms in Thelema
The Godforms in Thelema primarily derive from the Book of the Law.
Nuit represents space, Hadit the electron, Ra-Hoor-Khuit atomic energy. The messenger Aiwass predicts the coming of the Bomb. The Beast called Therion is the Prophet who is to usher in the use of Magick. His Scarlet Woman called Babalon is to be his Shakti or partner in Sex Magick. Together they form Baphomet, the two-backed beast also represented in such tantric figures as Shiva/Shakti and the Yidam of Tibetan Buddhism. Finally, there is Chaos.
