(Revision as of 23:00, 6 Oct 2004)

The Thelemic Calendar is based on the course of the Sun and Moon through the Tropical Zodiac. The New Year, therefore, cannot be said to occur on a Gregorian date, which will be different at each Vernal Equinox. While some Thelemites, doubtless, will through convenience observe the New Year on some vulgar date, or on the weekend instead of in the middle of the week, it makes no sense to say that the New Year happens every March 20, as was originally posted in this entry.

If you need a quote from Crowley, one need look no further than 777:

"Aries is scarlet, being the House of Mars and the sign of the Spring Equinox, where occurs the fiery outburst of the new year." -- Crowley, Aleister. 777. Explanations of the Attributions in the more important columns of Tables I—VI, Column XV: The King Scale of Colour, The Zodiacal Attributions
